As the cold weather starts to kick in it's the outer layers that become the most important. Putting on a great jacket or cardigan can simply point your outfit in the right direction with that one cleverly chosen piece. After all, The iconic Chanel little black jacket is currently being celebrated with an exhibition and book. By all accounts the classic cover up has never been more popular so we thought why not pay homage with our own gorgeous three picks from L'Armoire.

Back by popular demand is our Fashion@Arboreal night on the 20th November. A huge success last season, it's the perfect opportunity to get a group of friends together for a fun fashion night out to kick start the festive period. The Great Getaway

Hi all,

It's a special edition this week. If your planning an autumnal mini getaway our essential packing guide will give you the focus you need to put together that effortless 'weekend luxe' capsule wardrobe every girl needs in just FIVE looks. So, you can embrace your comfy casual side and still look pulled together without trying too hard.

Look 1

Travelling and arrival- Keep your outfit comfy in Malene Birger black jodhpur leggings, American Vintage lilac basic, AV chalk chunky knit, AV feather print scarf.

Look 2

Shopping and lunch- Swap knitwear for Day berry stripe layering top and Malene Birger tweed boyfriend blazer. Layer an AV basic underneath if extra warmth is needed.

Look 3

 Evening meal followed by cocktails- Take it up a notch with Day's petrol stretch jersey dress and black classic 'Garbadine' jacket. Finish look off with a splash of print in Malene Birger's emerald snake effect scarf.

Look 5

Or course, footwear is an essential too. To keep things light, we suggest you need just TWO pairs of shoes for your getaway. Yes girls it sounds a little crazy but really, if you get it right that's all you will need! A good ankle boot is a fail safe choice that will go with absolutely everything. If your feeling flush we suggest the Acne 'Pistol' boot. These are the coolest all rounders that you could own. The chunky low heel means they will literally take you through all day from shopping to lunch and sight seeing without punishing your tootsies.

 

  

The second pair simply needs to be a heel for your evening look. Any court, t-bar or shoe boot will do so for our heel of choice we've been lusting after Carven's bordeaux bow pump. We love their easy Parisian elegance that looks just as great for the cocktail hour as they do dress down with jeans.

Yes, it's that time of year to invest in your winter coat ladies and have we had an absolute corker in that you wont want to live without! Autumn's New Attitude

Look Who's Wearing AV Now...

 Yes, it's the gorgeous Kate Hudson rocking her American Vintage cotton tank in mouse on the red carpet under her sleek two piece suit. We always say it's a super versatile brand full of irresistible soft fabric groups and easy-wear pieces. The Hollywood A-list obviously agree!

1. Print is in the spotlight this week. First up, Malene Birger's bold leopard print jacket. Unless your an extrovert we think it looks great played down with moody tones of black and charcoal grey. A great little statement cover-up it will take you from day, as a cool addition to jeans and pullover, to night working it's magic as a chic jacket over the little balck dress or tuxedo pants.

 2. Next is this cool American Vintage soft printed jacket. It's relaxed structure allows you to pull your outfit together without looking stuffy at all. A true everyday staple that has the wearability factor in bundles, looking great layered over AV's easy tee shirts and fine knits.

 3. Finally, a monochrome print never fails to be far away from the leading trends of any season. Nothing Like A Lovely Knit!

Hi all,

We're really getting in to the swing of things for the new season. Gorgeous knitwear has been flooding through the doors and as we feel the summer ('what summer?') slipping away, we can't wait to embrace the autumn with all it has to offer.

Sartorial Scarves 

Dipping your toes into a new season is always exciting. The perfect place to start is of course with a perfectly printed scarf. The trend for print and colour never really goes away and AW12 is no exception. Our favourites? Well, Malene Birger's lovely nude and black lace effect scarf had us 'ooohing' from the word go, plus the animal prints still reign strong in a gorgeous dark emerald version of her classic wool staple.

Nothing Like a Lovely Knit

As we mentioned knitwear is bigger than ever this season with everything from fluffy lamb like cardy's, oversized cable sweaters and a plethora of poncho cover up's to choose from. It really is a case of 'take your pick'.

Puzzled Print

Hi all,

Raspberry definitely gets our vote this autumn. It's been making a splash everywhere we look and no where more so than right here at L'Armoire. We've got a soft spot for this berry hue, and who would of thought it's the most versatile colour around right now! It's set to accent our black, navy, petrol, grey and even cool mint wardrobes this season, so get started with these beauties!

It's Silk? 

We all know that American Vintage are at the top of their game when it comes to fabric selection, after all that's why we love to stock them here at the boutique. This new addition silk knit we guarantee will go straight to the top of your wish list after feeling and seeing it's luxury appearance. It's incredibly soft against the skin and is the epitome of relaxed casual wear being from the knit group. We love it layered with one of our lovely long sleeve basics.

Talking of colour pallets for the new season, this cool little puzzle print top rolls all trend colours in to one making it a great statement piece you can dress up or dress down. This is one puzzle we'd get straight away!

Zips Are It!

Hi all,

Fresh stock has steadily been flowing through the doors here at L'Armoire since our last newsletter. From super cool Malene Birger leopard print jeans (there grrrreat!), Day elegant monochrome 'Graphic' blouse to our favourite Jac tees coming in..., and then selling out faster than we can keep up! Don't worry, if you couldn't make it in for one of the flash pink featured in our last post, we've got a waiting list going for the next delivery due any day now (message us to put your name on the list).

Zip It

As we mentioned, the 'Zanobi' jeans are the coolest around. They are leopard print, but done in cleverly muted grey tones so as not to be too OTT. They hit just the right note of 'on trend' in our books, and we think will look effortless teamed with a sloppy Joe style overized knit in charcoal or black. Their cropped right in at the ankle with cute gold zip detail that's takes them to another level in the style stakes.

 

Keeping to the theme of zips, this Breton jersey dress hits a more classic note with it's black and nude stripe but is given a edge with gold zips this time on the shoulders. Can be worn as a dress or layered over leggings/skinnies for an easy casual daytime look.

Eisteddfod Fun

 If your heading this way for the Eisteddfod, don't forget to pop in and say hi! There will be a bus running back and forth from the Eisteddfod grounds over to Cowbridge throughout the duration of the festival period. We are certainly looking forward to the buzz it will create around the town with so many visitors to the area. Gael hwyl!

Easy As 1,2,3!

Hi all,

It's tricky knowing what the weather is doing outside right now, so we're going to help you pinpoint a couple of easy-peasy pieces ready for whatever the weatherman throws at us!

Holly Willoughby hit the nail on the head whilst attending the House festival in London a couple of weeks back. See opted for her trusty American Vintage 'Jac' tee in a flash of fluro pink, which is available at L'Armoire right now! Holly simply teamed hers with skinny jeans, waxed jacket tied round the waist (ready for the rain), and the festival staple.., a pair of trusty wellies. The AV 'Jac' tee is a L'Armoire essential. So, if you don't already own one we seriously suggest picking up either a long or short sleeve in one of the many colours stocked at the boutique.

Autumn at The Ready

Colour is certainly set to continue in to the autumn and going by the drops of lovely new stock we've had this week, we can't wait to see more. Beautiful berries, teals and kimono pinks have got us all fired up and ready to start wearing them right now! 

The 'Racoon'

Back by popular demand are Day's black waxed 'Racoon' skinny jeans. The popular style is super stretchy, meaning they are also super comfy. Their waxed finish gives that rock look edge without moving in to 'Bono' territory and also well placed mid rise that sits just in the right place banishing the feared 'muffin top' we all dread. Wear now styled with a cool cotton tee, blazer and pumps and when the cooler weather comes, a lovely chunky long knit and boots.

We Like Inglot... A Lot!

We love our fashion here at L'Armoire but a fantastic new beauty find is right up our street too. It does help having a make-up artist as part of the L'Armoire family  so we're always bang up to date with what's hot in the make-up world. Our latest find is a make-up brand called Inglot. Insiders have been keeping quiet about this one  but it's so great we can't help but tell all you lovely lot, because we know you will love it too. We were totally blown away by the Polish cosmetics company's huge range of eye popping colours when visiting their only UK based store in London's Westfield. Every colour imaginable in soft eye shadows, glossy and matt nail polishes, and magical body pigmant powders. Their stores are literally like art shops! Reasonably priced too, their colour pallets reflect current fashion trends allowing you to stay up to date with a simple slick of lippy. The good news is that you can buy online! Just a little tidbit of information for you about what's new at L'Armoire this week. The gorgeous Day Birger et Mikkelsen Gallery collection has arrived! We just love these little bridge collections between seasons that give us a fresh take our wardrobes right now, with an accent of looking ahead for what's to come.

Stay tuned to the tribal beat with a cool black and white cotton and silk mix shirt that marries print with pretty coloured stitch detailing on the hem.

Right Royal Attire

Hi all,

Jubilee weekend is here and wherever your spending the extra long bank holiday, we think it's a right royal excuse to dress up! We thought we'd give you some regal inspire looks in preparation for the celebrations.

If your heading to a garden party, keep things prim and proper in this Malene Birger navy and cream cardy mixing it up with a crown jewelled coloured silk and jersey tank underneath and maybe some pearls...

Heading into London to see the Thames parade? Day's grey marl embroidered cardigan will be great as an extra pretty layer over a white American Vintage tee shirt and jeans. We are sure the Queen would approve!
