Layer Up!

Hi all,

Layer Up!

Brrr, it's definitely time to layer up! Fine layers are key and we have created a look for you that you can also adapt into your own style keeping to the basic code. Step by step we start from great second skin base layers right through to cosy soft top layers, accessories and outerwear.

Starting with the American Vintage fine base layers. The most popular being the classic 'Massachussets' long sleeve style that sits next to the skin and is made of the softest cotton. They come in a huge range of colours allowing you to mix and match with most of your wardrobe.

Next comes the core layer determining the direction and overall look of your outfit. This can range from a luxury silky piece, fine wool knit, cotton or cashmere. There is also almost a free rein on style possibly choosing a dress, tunic, oversized knit or shirt dress. This Day knitted dress adds a great twist with it's metallic fleck running through the knit and silver stud detailing on the pockets.

Accessorizing can also allow you to put your own stamp on your look. Scarves are always good for the layered look adding another dimension, accent colour or print. This cashmere blend charcoal scarf is so easy  doesn't even need to be tied. Just loop it on and off you go.

Tip-A hat acts as a great trend piece that will keep your look bang up to date too. Wide brim hats are everywhere right now and our Day felted wool floppy number taps in to the seventies feel of the season.

Pulling together your look is the outer layer and in the cold weather this is the most important piece. From smart and tailored, to capes and warm padded coats, once again the direction is endless. Our look is everyday luxe so we've chosen the Day down filled padded coat. It's neat shape doesn't overpower the rest of your outfit, it's lightweight, looks stylish and is most importantly warm!

And here is our look pulled together

New In

Yes, we love deliveries here at L'Armoire. There is always something new and exciting to unpack on a weekly basis. This week saw the drop of the unstructured jackets from American Vintage. They are great for adding a cool edge to a look without being too rigid or overdressed. Coming in two great styles. The oversized boyfriend knitted jacket that looks effortless style over a simple white shirt and also the shorter cotton collar-less jacket which can be worn over tunics, jumper dresses or fine layers once again. We can't wait for next week!

A pretty blouse always has a place in our wardrobes anytime of the year and this sheer dreamy number is no exception. New in, it's light and delicate style is complimented by the nude colour tone and looks beautiful against black, brown and all tones of grey.

New In Cowbridge

Have you visited Arboreal yet? Just two doors down from us here on Eastgate is Cowbridge's newest addition, (and no we are not on commission, just impressed!). A unique cafe kitchen bar that's open all day long for breakfast, lunch and dinner it's a great place to stop for something to eat or just coffee while out shopping. The food is fresh, tasty and original and cooked right in front of your eyes in their open kitchen with an impressive wood burning oven. They also sell the most delicious chocolate brownies homemade and supplied locally. The L'Armoire team has already become regulars in the short space of a week...whoops!

See you soon xx

P.S. We have entered L'Armoire in to the The Telegraph's Best Small Shops in Britain awards 2011 and we would love it if you could take a minute or two to vote for us in the 'Best For Women's fashion' category. We've Fallen For Fall

Hi all,

The last dose of warm weather was an unexpected delight for us here in the UK and now, we are pretty much sure it's over. Having dropped 10 or more degrees almost over night, it seems we can all now focus on the task ahead. A pleasurable one at that-our autumn/winter wardrobes...yippee!

Cape Crusader

This week has seen the the first drop of Day's 'Winter Nights' collection. Consisting of pieces with a slightly more luxurious edge ready for Christmas. Sheer silks, draping, velvet and lace are key to day's signature style and run throughout the collection. Our favourite piece has to be the dramatic black velvet cape. A real star buy if your looking to make a statement then this is it. With it's beautiful beading detail at the collar it looks as if it's come straight out of a period drama. As a evening cover up it will look great styled with sexy skin tight slacks and a pretty blouse. Don't forget sky high heels for that wonder women edge.

Love Lace

We have totally fallen for the lace trend this season here at L'Armoire. Never failing to make us feel feminine, romantic and a little sexy it is definitely having a fashion moment. Dip in to it as you wish. If you are looking for a full on love affair choose this chic Malene Birger navy and black lace dress. It's understated shape allows the lace to do all the talking. On the other hand, if it's a brief encounter that appeals to you then go with Day's more versatile fine wool sweater with lace overlay panel.

Back in Stock

After selling out rather rapidly of all three styles,  Malene Birger's ever popular animal print scarves are back in store. They are an absolute must have for your winter wardrobe adding a chic bit of animal print in a measurable dose. We wouldn't be without ours so quick, get your skates on before they go....grrrrrr!

Winter Lights

It's so easy once the colder weather comes to slip back in to all tones of black and grey. A refreshing alternative would be to reach for the lighter winter whites, sands and dove tones. A perfect place to start would be the slouchy knits. Avoid looking like someone out of a nineties Christmas music video and mix it up with charcoal grey, camel or black. Snuggle up with our picks from the boutique;

American Vintage soft cream cardigan

See you soon xx

P.S. We just heard there's a Downton Abbey Christmas special being made right now. Whoop, nice one Julian Fellowes! We can't wait to see Downton in decorated decadence....ooh, and of course the outfits!
